Keeps herbs really fresh
If you are looking for a way to keep your herbs lasting and fresh, this keeper is a must. I used to have a problem with wilted and slimy herbs when trying other methods of storing them in the fridge. This product eliminates that problem and I now can store my parsley and cilantro for over a week without any issues. My only con is that the lid and top sheath doesn’t have a way to lock in place once you have adjusted it to the height you need to accommodate your herbs. Other than that, I can’t recommend this enough. Great item!

Inadequate space and cannot be thoroughly cleaned.
This only cost $20 and is not worth the trouble of returning. Plus, I would be responsible for the return shipping since none of the return reasons that are available that would make the seller responsible do not apply. The closest would be that the product is not as described, but the fact is that the product does not do what it should do, and being able to do what it should do is only implied. The herb keeper is way too small. I have planted herbs on the balcony of my apartment. I don’t need them constantly, but I do have to keep the plants pruned to remain bushy and bountiful. So I need an herb keeper to hold the various prunings and harvest sprigs for later use. This COLE & MASON Fresh Herb Keeper does not have the cap[acity to hold nearly enough herbs.I have lavender and rosemary that don’t really need a keeper since they do not get out of hand just remaining on the plant until needed. If I brought fresh lavender and rosemary from the store that would be a different story. I’d need a place to hold them. But for me, these two herbs do not need a keeper. The ones that do need a keeper are my purple basil, Italian oregano, Italian flat leaf parsley, and Greek thyme. The COLE & MASON Fresh Herb Keeper is too small to even take care of the basil prunings alone. It can handle the German thyme alone OK, as well as the Italian oregano alone, but just those two herbs together can overcrowd the keeper. Even when I trim down the basil and the parsley to try to fit into the keeper, which is not as good as keeping full sprigs, each herb alone overcrowds the keeper. To be able to handle all of my herbs reasonably, I would need three keepers. I shouldn’t have to buy three keepers when one should be able to handle the task. Now that I have this keeper, it is much easier and effective for me to just use a large glass with an inch of filtered water in the bottom, like a vase, just as I was doing before getting the COLE & MASON Fresh Herb Keeper. My parsley and my basil do much better in a glass for each rather than the keeper. Much better. As for cleaning, it is not easy to clean because the clear plastic part does not separate from the white plastic part and the space in between the two is a problem to reach. There is no way to scrub that inaccessible area nor reach it all with a paper towel to dry. Cleaning is hard but easier than drying unless you want it to just dry by evaporation, which I do not allow for most things that are culinary-oriented.Air drying allows all of the contaminants contained in the tap rinse water to remain as residue on the item. So I use paper towels to remove excess water, leaving minimal contaminants to get into the food. If you try really hard, you can get a folded paper towel to go maybe halfway down into the space between the two plastic parts, but not all the way. So it cannot be properly dried. For me, I will be looking for a better keeper and still mainly be using large drinking glasses as vases for my herb prunings and harvest sprigs.

Big, easy to use, top doesn’t latch
Got this for my parents, who prefer fresh herbs on standby but kill plants constantly. This container is way bigger than I expected, but also fits just as much space as it said, which I know sounds confusing. We managed to fit two giant bundles of herbs and the container is still pretty easy to fit into the door of the fridge. The only issue is that the top is just kind of a hinged flap with no real closure. So because the herbs poke up the tiniest bit, the box won’t close. There’s no actual locking or sealing mechanism. We just have to trim the herbs down to get them solid. Even with the top popped though, we have had 2+ weeks of use with minimal wilting, with more water changes just because the moisture doesn’t stay inside with the lid open. Definitely just something to keep in mind, but overall they like it!

Broke my lid during first wash – great product but don’t make my same mistake!
I’m so glad I got this herb keeper! No more slimy cilantro/parsley bags in the back of the fridge! This thing pays for itself in a month. I realize it’s my fault but I’m sharing so other people don’t make the same mistake- I broke the lid hinge before I even got to use it. I took it apart and washed it when it arrived. I could not get the lid to go back on for the life of me? Finally got it on but it wouldn’t close. This was where I should have stopped- everyone knows if you have to push really hard, it’s probably not a good idea but I tossed common sense aside! The hinge snapped off and in that moment I realized I had it the wrong direction. Hard to explain but I swear it was an understandable mistake. It still fits on snug, does not effect my fresh herbs and I’m not crying or anything but learn from me and double check before you force the lid on the wrong way!

Nice, but too short
I would love this product if it were taller. I had to cut all the stems off my cilantro to make it fit with the lid closed. I would also like to store green onions in this, but it’s way too short for that. I sent it back and bought the Herb Angel instead.

fresh herbs forever
Maybe not quite forever, but a much longer time than I would have thought possible. I wish I had bought this during the pandemic when going to the grocery store was such a chore. I bought some limp-ish looking mint from the farmer’s market 5 days before I went away for a week. When I came back it was fresher than when I bought it sitting in this container in the fridge. Really great !

So much better than a glass covered with a plastic bag
For years I have been putting my herbs in water glasses covered with plastic bags. I store them in the refrigerator. I cannot tell you how many times I have knocked the glasses over, lifted the plastic bag to see the condition of the herbs and pulled the herbs out of the glass, or water has syphoned out of the glass and ended up on the refrigerator shelf. I usually have 2 or 3 glasses with plastic bags causing mayhem on. a shelf. One day I thought there must be a better way to store herbs and found this container on Amazon. I am really pleased with how it works, but please note, that you will probably need to fully extend the clear top part of the container to the maximum height to fit most herbs. The unit is more stable if the clear top is fully extended, or at the level of the bottom. It looks so much better than glasses covered with bags and it is really easy to see the water level and check on the herbs. Cilantro has lasted two weeks in this container. The dividers for the inside are removable and sometimes you have to remove one or more to get a bunch of herbs in the unit. Cleaning it take a little more work than putting a glass in the dishwasher, but the functionality and attractiveness of this product makes it a Best Buy in my mind. Those who are complaining about the price in the reviews probably value thriftiness over convenience and good looks, but if you can afford $20 for herb storage and have room in your fridge for the unit, I think you will like this product.

My herbs last around 2wks.
I’m truly enjoying having fresh herbs last a little longer than 2days. I have some cilantro and parsley that lasted almost 2weeks. It did not keep my basil & lemon basil but maybe 3-4 days before they wilted and got moldy. It’s easy to clean and I think the lid keeps the herbs fresher longer

Foodie approval – Purchased based on the review from America’s Test Kitchen
We are a foodie household and due to health issues, we’ve been extremely isolated during the pandemic. I’ take the “better safe than sorry” approach to risk mitigation which means that all grocery items are kept in a garage fridge for 3 days before being brought into the house. Unfortunately, that meant that when we could find fresh herbs (which has been difficult), by the time we brought them in, they were dead or dying and we had very little time to use them. I bought this herb saver after a great deal of research. America’s Test Kitchen gave it top honors and I thought “for the price, it’s worth a shot” and it has truly paid off. We put chives, parsley, and dill in it first and all three lasted in great condition for 3 weeks . This week, I had purchased green onions and by the time we brought them in, they were a bit “wimpy”. I figured it couldn’t hurt to give it a try so I cleaned them up, cut them down just enough to fit and put them in. 2 days later, they had perked right up and we’re now almost a week in and they are in as good of shape as when they were delivered. I don’t write review very often, but this has been one of the best amazon purchases I’ve made. We rarely have to throw away herbs which means it’s MORE than paid for itself. We’ve also started indoor gardening with the Aerogarden and if that continues to go well, we may need a second herb keeper! It’s nothing fancy, but it’s made quarantine cooking a far better experience. 5 of 5 would recommend.

Save Money With This Storage Bin!!!
I’ve been testing the retention of cilantro and parsley, both herbs I use a LOT of. Before buying this, I was buying 2 bunches of cilantro every week for my wife and I, partly due to the amount of food we cook it with but also because it never lasted long enough. We just couldn’t keep it fresh enough in the produce drawer of our frige. I decided to try this and now I can keep one bunch for up to 2 weeks minimum. We’ve saved on reduced wasted food and saved money. Only complaint is it’s quite difficult to detach the two parts to wash in dishwasher, so be careful not to break/crack the top part.

This herb keeper is worth buying!
I was very skeptical about this purchase, but it has already paid for itself by prolonging the quality of the fresh herbs that I buy. I live in a rural area and access to great vegetables and herbs is about once a month. Thanks to this device, I can enjoy fresh herbs for an entire month before i shop again.

Keeps herbs fresh for days.
This does work well for keeping my herbs really fresh for 10-14 days, and doesn’t take up too much room in the refrigerator. I do find it a little hard to clean though. I left for the weekend and had a batch of Italian parsley and cilantro in it that I should have tossed before I left. When the stems wilted, some leaves got between the main basin and the clear sliding part and they were very hard to clean out. I wish it would all come apart for easy cleaning, but it doesn’t.

Not well constructed
While it does a great job with keeping herbs fresh in the refrigerator, the construction leaves a lot to be desired. Lowering or raising the clear upper portion is crude at best. The tabs on the side are difficult to keep in the groves created for them. Also, it came apart totally while cleaning it. Putting the top and bottom back together was impossible. I ended up breaking the clear portion down one side as cleanly as possible so that it is sort of working again.A product that is almost there but not quite has earned the bragging rights that the company promotes. You may want to consider purchasing another product.

Wonderful and compact, herb keeper
Perfect size, compact, and keeps things fresh for several weeks easily. Wish it was just a little bit bigger but overall very happy with it. One side, I have cilantro, the other side parsley. Not sure I could fit a third grocery store bunch of herbs in here, but The sleek design and the fact I can keep it on a door shelf versus taking up space on an interior refrigerator shelf makes it very convenient .

Perfect!!
I bought this after seeing it at my friend’s house and so glad I did!! Previously my cilantro would only keep about a week (no matter how many tricks I looked up on Pinterest or social media sites), but now it keeps for 2-3 weeks and sometimes more!! Plus, I like the fact it doesn’t take up a whole lot of room in the fridge, and easy to clean.

Cool idea
I love this idea; I wish it was just a little bigger. It seems to work so far. I used it for parsley, green onions and cilantro. The onions faired the best, then the parsley, the cilantro didn’t seem to stay fresh at all. I will keep using it until I find something better. I wanted it for celery but now I think it might be small for the stalks with out cutting them into thirds.

Herb Container
I purchased this container and to my shock and surprise, my cilantro lasted longer than I thought it would. I am sure it would have lasted longer if I kept up with the water level. Which, by the way, can be a problem. Since you can’t see the water line it’s a sure thing a person is most likely to forget. Overall, it works. Also, having more than one can become can of bulky and take up prime real estate in your fridge.

Too small
I was barely able to get a bunch of cilantro in the entire space. You have to change the water at least every couple of days. If you forget; they will wilt and you will have a mess to clean. If you want to keep something fresh for a few days; it might work; but for a long time…not so good; at least it did not for me.

fresh herbs
I like that this contains my herbs once cut and covers them easily. I was constantly trying to retrofit a baggie on top of my herbs while using just a drinking glass. It would tip over and make a mess and the set-up was just driving me insane. When I saw this, I thought anything has got to be better than what I am currently doing. And it is!! The herbs stay fresh for a lot longer. I think it is a little difficult to clean and I have small hands. The top, clear portion, is hard to slide up and down at least for me. Others may not be having same issue, but nonetheless, I am struggling a little with that and I spill the water.

Glad to own this
I have been going back and forth for a year on this purchase and whether I really need this. I usually wrap my herbs in a paper towel and place in a plastic bag to store. After reorganizing my fridge and noticing that the herb keeper price dropped back to a reasonable amount, I purchased it. I can say I am happy with my purchase. The container is a little large but I can hold about 4-5 different herbs in there without them getting crushed in my fridge. I decided not to fill up the container with water and do not use the dividers to keep things simple. I wash my herbs and wrap them up in a paper towel then slip it into the herb keeper and place it on the shelf inside my fridge door. The herbs last a very long time and I save by not using plastic bags. The herbs are very easy to access with the drop down lid. I would definitely purchase this again!

Keeps my herbs fresher longer
Simple to use and good quality plastic. I initially thought it was too big but it worked for 2-3 average bunches of grocery store herbs. However I did wish it was larger when I realized it kept herbs fresher and wanted to buy more bunches. Cons are design issues. it’s hard to clean. There are “tracks” for slide in separators between herbs that are hard to access. Perhaps soaking in soaping water and a thin brush like a straw cleaner might work (I haven’t tried yet). Also the clear plastic “collapsible” height adjuster can’t come apart. I have rotting leaves stuck between that sliding adjuster and white plastic container that can’t be accessed. Perhaps same straw brush cleaner might do the trick. Also there’s a lid that doesn’t lock. It’s more of a flap. Would have been nice if it latches shut since my herbs reach past the top. I use a rubber band to help keep it shut.

Farm Fresh!
I was looking for an herb keeper that would be more compact and look nicer than damp paper towel in open storage bags (which BTW work just fine). This was recommended by America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country. I have found their equipment recommendations to be on-point.
